ORIGINAL COCKTAILS: THE BREAKFAST BOUQUET

ORIGINAL COCKTAILS: THE BREAKFAST BOUQUET Tuesday, March 20, 2012

So your friend just got married. The ceremony was short, the reception long. You danced you pants off. And now you’re camped out around a long table, waiting for the bride and groom to come down from their hotel room.

You want to surprise them, so you want to order order enough Mimosas for everyone at the table to toast the newlyweds when they finally show.

But you take a look at the menu and find that you yourself are surprised that we offer an alternative to the Mimosa, something we’re calling the Breakfast Bouquet, a Vitamin C-laced breakfast of champions.

At first glance, it looks like a simple grapefruit Mimosa, but you’ll know the difference after swallowing that first sip.

That’s because we’re, so to speak, spiking it with our famous housemade Five Flower Soda, made with the essences of Hibiscus, Elderflower, Lavender, Chamomile and Star Anise, which we simmer in water and and steep before straining.

Mix that with some Sparking Wine and some freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and you’ve got a memorable morning cocktail so surprising in taste that the bride, groom  and all of their friends will never forget.

Because it’s too early for the Mimosa’s more swaggering cousins, like the Screwdriver and the Greyhound, anyway.

And probably too much of a commitment, too.
