ORIGINAL EVENTS: CELEBRATE 3 YEARS WITH THE RETURN OF OUR DONUT BURGER Friday, May 18, 2012
Like the dodo, it came, had a go, then quietly went away, never to return. People either loved it or didn’t (you can tell by the comments it generated from this NYT blog post that ran just days after we first opened our doors). Either way, like the dodo, they got eaten all up until there were none left to eat.
But like that other archetypal bird, the mythic one that rose from its own ashes, the Original Donut Burger is returning, for one day only (for a mere 90 minutes), and we’re resurrecting it as a way to celebrate our third birthday.
If you want to catch a rare glimpse of one, or, better yet, cop a taste, join us for Happy Hour (4:30-6pm), on Friday, May 25.
All you do is belly up to the bar, order yourself something to drink and, like magic, we’ll bring you a Donut Burger Slider, free of charge.
The ground beef we’re using is the same from-the-same-cow ground beef we’ve been using from our friends at Highland Oak Farm, and the cheese is the same old, sharp Tillamook cheddar cheese that we’ve always used.
The only difference is that, this time, the glazed donuts that bun the burgers will be made fresh, in house and from scratch that very day, by the creative men and women in our pastry department.
Salty? Definitely. Sweet? Sure, it’s a donut burger, though it’s probably not as sweet as you might think. Decadent? Without a doubt.
So for those of you who miss them dearly or never got try one before it went extinct, come on in, say, “Hi,” order yourself something refreshing and we’ll bring you one thing on our menu that made us, at once, both famous and infamous.
