The Original is gearing up for a busy travel season. Downtown Portland and the entire city has grown to be a destination spot for travelers all over the country and outside of the United States. It is safe to say that in the outdoors have been the main attraction for years and years with Mt. Hood, the many rivers and fishing holes, the Oregon Coast and the ease of the city’s metropolitan scene, however, food and drink have definitely made its impact on the travel scene of Portland.
The Original is at its heart a family restaurant. Our modern twists on classic dishes are both comforting and unique. For families traveling to the Pacific Northwest, the OG is the perfect spot for all meal periods and even quick cocktail stops! From all day breakfast options, a killer kid’s menu, ice cream classics and house made dishes there truly is something for everyone. To see an example of our dinner menu click here
The OG is also within walking distance from all the major hotels downtown and a short Uber or Lyft ride from the East side.
Sometimes you can’t please every palate. This is where the OG steps in. Our versatile and varied menu fits so many culinary needs and Chef AJ and the crew can accommodate several menu ideas. Beyond that the OG has one of the best views of Downtown Portland from its second floor (floor-to-ceiling, window lined) private dining mezzanine. This space is perfect for rehearsal dinners, receptions, showers, out of town guest “meet and greets” or just wedding party guest fun. When guests are traveling it’s nice to know you can count on the food, drink and hospitality of professionals that know how to take care of guests – and that’s pretty much our specialty.
The other highlight to the OG for traveling guests is our primary focus and collaboration with local purveyors so our guests truly have a Portland/Oregon dining and drinking experience. We have teamed up with Stumptown Coffee Roasters (a local artisan coffee roaster), Portland Ketchup, Secret Aardvark Sauce and so much more. Behind our bar we carry local beers on draught, Willamette Valley wineries and of course a top selection of Oregon distillers and even batch and barrel age our own spirits.
We can’t wait for this summer’s season of new guests, returning traveler and local diners.
